This week we're starting a new project on insect art.

Lesson 1 - Drawing insects in pencil

All insects have three body parts: thorax, abdomen and head. Do you know any good facts about insects?

Work through the power point attached.

Lesson 2 - To draw insects in colour

Did you know that insects have two names, their formal Latin names and then a second one which usually describes what they look like. For example, the pterourus glaucus butterfly is known as a tiger swallowtail because it has tiger stripes and a body that looks like a swallow tail.

Have a look at the insects below and invent a name for them based on their appearance.

Now work through the power point.

Lesson 3 - Insect mosaics

Pick one of your favourite pictures from below and then have a go at answering the questions about it.
