Share the traditional story 'Jack and the Beanstalk', a story which has been around for hundreds of years. You may a the book at home or click on the link below.  After sharing the story complete the activity below.

After sharing the story again talk about what the magic beans might look like and where the beanstalk might go. It could go into the clouds, to another country, to your favourite toy shop or be rainbow coloured! Use your imagination...the possibilities are endless!

Draw a picture of your beanstalk or a picture of where the beanstalk might go. Have a go at labelling your picture or writing a simple sentence. Don't forget to say your sentence to an adult before you write it down. Use your phonics to sound out the words, think carefully about the 'Tricky Words' and using a capital letter at the beginning of you sentence, finger spaces and a full stop at the end of your sentence.

Design your own magic beans using any materials you can find. You could use pens, paper, tin foil, glitter, beads, sequins, buttons, string… anything to make your bean look magical! Then see if you can build a beanstalk using tubes or boxes to go with it. You could draw around and cut out your hands to make them look like a giant.
Design or build a new castle for the giant. What features do you think the castle should have? Why? If you have wooden/plastic blocks at home use these to build the castle.
