Below is video to show how we teach set 1 sounds during our phonics sessions.
Below are phonics flashcards. Use these to revise previously taught sounds and introduce new ones. This week we would like you to revise s,a,t,p,i,n,m,d,g.
At school we are practising to orally 'Fred Talk' as much as possible. It is very important that adults model this so the child can hear the sounds in the words. We use 'My turn s-a-t sat', 'Together s-a-t sat' and then if they can 'Your turn s-a-t sat' etc. Below are word cards for you to use for 'Fred Talking'.
I have found the phonics games very useful at home with my son as sometimes he is reluctant to sit down and do a more formal style of phonics learning. I also find that turning everything into a game or taking it outside in the garden is always a winner. Both websites have free games that you can access or you can pay a yearly subscription to access a wider variety of resources. I have subscribed to both at home and my son loves playing the phonics games.
