This week, the focus is Comprehension and Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling. This will also give you time to finish off any of the work from SOAR last week and there will be a new film next week. There are two comprehensions and two pieces of GPS work. Worksheets don't have to be printed - you can complete the work on your own paper. [Try and do one session on www.spag.com as well].
This week we will be looking at Maya masks and you will be finding out all about them and designing your own!
Firstly watch the PowerPoint below and describe the masks on a sheet of paper. Use your best handwriting, sub-titles, little diagrams if you want - make it bright and colourful and include:
- what they were made from
- why they were used - the battle masks, the event masks and the death masks
Then have a look at the designs for some inspiration - look at the colours, the materials used, the patterns and the details. You can then either print one of the outlines or design your own from scratch. Draw it carefully - take your time, colour it and then add some labels where you might want to add beads, feathers, jewels etc. It would be great if we could actually make your masks when we return to school - we have all the materials! Keep the piece of written work and the mask design safe.
